Wilten were delighted to welcome valued client, Kingsbridge, on site for our Breaking Ground Ceremony for Ferne Park; their “greenest development to date”.
The ceremony marked the beginning of the Design and Construction of three high tech, grade A units totalling 106,688 sqft, including office and warehouse facilities together with a service yard, car parking, and landscaped areas.
Ferne Park is targeting a BREEAM Rating of Outstanding and a Fitwel enabled design, achieving this level of certification distinguishes Ferne Park within the top 3% of all industrial developments that have been accredited by BREEAM nationally.
Sustainability features include targeting net zero embodied carbon, achieving a Biodiversity Net Gain, and installing solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.
To successfully execute and deliver this scheme we are collaborating with valued Client Kingsbridge, and the professional team Quartz, HNW Architects and PTA.
Justin Watts, Wilten Construction Director said:
“Another fantastic scheme to be involved in, especially with Ferne Park being Wilten’s first BREEAM Outstanding project, highlighting our commitment to sustainability and achieving excellence in building design and construction. It was great to meet with the client and client team on site for the groundbreaking ceremony where we discussed key project milestones, innovative sustainable solutions, ideas to engage with local schools, and the positive impact this project will have on the local community”.
Chris Fry, Chief Executive of Kingsbridge, said:
“We are proud to bring forward our greenest ever logistics project, and one of the most environmentally sustainable schemes in the region – a highly sustainable, biodiversity net gain positive development that unlocks this previously underused site’s potential to deliver best-in-class facilities for employment use.
“Ferne Park represents our ongoing commitment to the highest levels of sustainability, meeting demand from businesses across the south in a way that delivers prosperity and environmental benefits to our local communities.”
Keep your eyes peeled for more project updates over the coming months!
