Perfect Considerate Constructors Scores at Pioneer Park, Leicester!

Pioneer Park, Leicester has been awarded a perfect Considerate Constructors Score!

CCS focuses on three areas:

Respecting the community 15/15:

"It is commendable the relationship that is being established with Leicester College that should continue to grow beyond the legacy of this project. The site team are adding value to the local community with their plans for ongoing community engagement and are encouraged to continue to develop in this area".

Caring for the environment 15/15:

"The site team continue to take a very serious approach to care for the environment and have plans in place to protect and enhance the natural environment. The team are committed to reducing waste and finding ways to reuse products, engage with take-back schemes and minimise the use of single use plastics".

Valuing the workforce 15/15:

"The site demonstrates a commitment to respect, fair treatment, encouragement and support for all on site. The organisation has an ongoing personal development planning process with annual reviews carried out and checks that help to ensure a competent workforce".

Our auditor commented, “Once again the site team have addressed all aspects of the checklist to a very high standard and overall this is an excellent site with all three sections scoring as excellent and a score of 45/45".

Justin Watts, Wilten Construction Director, said:

“We are absolutely delighted with this score, a fantastic effort from the team at Pioneer Park!"

James Potts, Wilten Senior Project Manager Pioneer Park, said:

“We're very proud of this excellent score, a huge well done to all the team.  It’s a fantastic site and a great example of best practice, community commitment and caring for the environment.  We are keen to exceed industry standards and will continue to strive to make a positive and meaningful impact through our various initiatives and projects on site".

Social Value at Pioneer Park:

Wilten hosted two schools from the Leicestershire Education Business Company (LEBC) on site at Pioneer Park for two World of Work industry day visits.

Leicestershire Education Business Company said:

"Wilten Construction's input was part of a much larger event which takes a lot of organisation and preparation, and without Wilten Construction's help we wouldn't be able to give the students such a valuable opportunity to learn first-hand about the construction industry and the world of work. The team at Wilten Construction have helped LEBC to inspire young people and provided the students with 'food for thought' about their future careers".

Wilten were delighted to host Leicester College and members from Leicester City Council on site at Pioneer, over the last 4 weeks we have hosted 4 x site visits for the Level 1 & Level 2 Construction Students. The aim of these visits were to show the students how a construction site operates and what the construction industry looks like in the real world, rather than in a workshop setting.

Sandra Rieger, Senior Economic Regeneration Officer Leicester City Council:

"The students had never experienced a construction site before and so the visit was both interesting and informative. Wilten explained about the building process and the importance of health and safety on site. They also took the time to interact with the students to make the visit relevant to the group's interests. The construction industry is keen to attract young people and so it is imporant that we give them an insight into the sector".
