Travis Perkins and Wilten Redevelopment of Land to Bring Benefits to Salford.
On Monday 21st October, Wilten held a Milestone Ceremony on site in Salford for Travis Perkins, theUK’s largest builders’ merchant, for the demolition, design and build of their new £4.3m, 34,720 sq. ft. trading branch.
The ceremony marked the completion of earthworks and the commencement of construction of foundations.The scheme is on target to be completed within the 33-week programme, which ends in Q1 2025.
The scheme, located off James Corbett Street in Salford, Greater Manchester, will provide a facility that meets the operational requirements of Travis Perkins, ensuring the continued successful operation of their business within the Salford area. Wilten’s scope of work includes the demolition of three existing buildings, gatehouse, hard standing, and some boundary fencing, along with cut-and-fill earthworks to improve the site levels to provide suitable ground for the construction works. During this phase, Wilten has crushed and processed 4,000m3 of material for reuse on site, therefore eliminating disposal offsite and 20,000 bricks have gone off site to reclamation.
The demolition phase of the works will be followed by the construction of a new industrial warehouse andshop (shell only), external dry store, tool hire compound, external concrete yard for loading spaces and access with car and HGV parking.
Wilten and Travis Perkins have partnered with a team of industry professionals to deliver the new tradingbranch. The project counts Goodrich Consulting as the Employer's Agent, We Architecture as the Architect, JPP as the Engineer, while The Engineering Workshop LLP provides mechanical and electrical services.
